The waste-to-energy department is responsible for the efficient and continuous incineration of the provided waste, up to the generation of energy, while ensuring that quality, safety, and environmental requirements are maintained. As a mechanical engineer/process operator, you will be part of one of the teams. Due to the continuous nature of the process, they operate on a shift system, working 24/7.

This is what you will do as a mechanical engineer/process operator:

Starting up, safely operating, and shutting down installations.
Handling irregularities.
Providing accurate notifications and analyses and determining follow-up actions.
Securing installation components for maintenance and conducting tests.
Reporting on activities.
Contributing to improvement processes.
Performing emergency response activities (BHV) when necessary.

Functie-eisen

We would like to discuss the position of "mechanical engineer/process operator" with you. The match would be perfect if you have:

Completed vocational education (mbo) in AOT, maritime officer, VAPRO C or D.
A VCA VOL certificate or a willingness to obtain one.
Work experience as an operator or mechanical engineer (e.g., on a ship).
Initiative and precise skills.
Proficient command of the Dutch and English language, both spoken and written.

The activities will be carried out at an Amsterdam-based waste processing company that handles waste from municipalities and businesses. Their task is to produce energy from waste in the most sustainable and clean way possible. They achieve this by extracting as much (re)usable material as possible from the waste. The remaining unusable residual waste is burned in the most sustainable way possible, converting it into heat and electricity for the city.
